This engaging workshop introduces clinicians to visual-based strategies for helping clients of all ages manage emotional overwhelm. Grounded in trauma-informed care and neurodivergent-affirming practices, this course offers tools to make abstract emotional experiences visible, understandable, and actionable. Participants will learn to guide clients in naming, mapping, and planning around emotional states using tools such as the Window of Tolerance, SUDs scale, and Zones of Regulation. The training emphasizes collaborative, strengths-based interventions that foster client insight and autonomy, especially helpful for clients with trauma histories, executive functioning challenges, or difficulty accessing emotional language.
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to
- Teach clients to name, map, and visualize emotional states
- Use visual mapping tools to co-create coping plans for moments of distress
- Apply step-by-step tools, including the Window of Tolerance, SUDs scale, and Zones of Regulation
