Mental health professionals working with clients who enter therapy after committing violent acts face tangled ethical and clinical problems, and this course addresses them. It does not teach dangerousness assessment or crisis management; its subject is the ethical, countertransference and practical difficulties of treating people with a violent past. Three groups who have committed physical and/or sexual violence are covered: 1. Adolescents who have been violent in their communities, schools included. 2. Adults who recently abused family members at home. 3. Adults newly out of prison after a violent offense.
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to
- Identify Ethical Principles and Legal Considerations
