Clinicians regularly see clients struggling with shame in different areas of their lives. Shame, guilt and self-criticism weigh heavily on mental health and everyday well-being, and fear can lead to unhealthy coping and distress. A resilience-growth model is presented to help clients accept themselves, other people and reality, which is necessary for treating trauma, stress, anxiety, depression, binge eating, substance use and anger.
