Introduction
Objective 1: Define essential terms related to gender identity, expression, and the transgender experience.
- What is the difference between gender and sex?
- What is the difference between gender identity and gender expression?
- What is gender dysphoria?
Objective 2: Discover the answers to frequently asked questions and misconceptions about working with transgender clients.
- Strategies to utilize when you make a mistake with a client’s name or pronouns
- Prevalence of mental health concerns and risk factors
- Barriers to accessing mental health care
Objective 3: Identify at least one action step to implementing gender-affirming care.
- How to make your therapy space inviting
- Utilizing pronouns and chosen names
