This two-hour workshop-style training offers practical, hands-on interventions for engaging clients’ inner child parts. Beginning with an overview of inner child work, participants will learn five adaptable techniques to guide clients through healing childhood wounds and integrating fragmented parts of the internal psyche, facilitating emotional growth and self-compassion. Drawing from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and expressive arts, this training provides a rich blend of approaches that can be immediately implemented in practice by licensed clinicians. Infused with playfulness, compassion, and creativity, these techniques not only help clients address past trauma but also support the development of adaptive beliefs and emotional regulation in the present. Participants will engage in their own self-reflection and hands-on practice through active demonstrations, experiences, and interactive discussion during the workshop.
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to
- Define the concept of the “inner child” and explain its relevance in therapeutic settings.
- Identify appropriate scenarios for implementing inner child interventions in counseling
- sessions, ensuring ethical and effective practice.
- Demonstrate the application of at least three inner child interventions for therapy,
