Clinicians build a broad understanding of the strengths, challenges and gendered experiences that shape mental health for male clients at every life stage. Participants examine how social norms, expectations of masculinity and developmental factors affect emotional expression, help-seeking and outcomes. The course covers assessing the needs and goals of boys and men, including cultural, relational and identity influences. Clinicians come away with practical strategies for building rapport, strengthening emotional resilience and supporting well-being, drawing on client strengths while addressing depression, anxiety, trauma and relationship problems.
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to

- Describe appropriate methods of assessment and psychotherapy interventions for boys and men.
- Explain the impact of social, cultural, psychological, and environmental influences on boys and men’s mental health.
