Human trafficking continues to rise in the United States, with the National Human Trafficking Hotline receiving nearly half a million contacts since its inception in 2007. Survivors often experience profound and complex psychological trauma, signaling the urgent need for trauma‑informed and culturally responsive mental health care. This foundational training addresses both labor trafficking and sex trafficking. Participants will deepen their understanding of the complex dynamics and nuances of human trafficking, learn to recognize signs, develop skills for assessing risk, and explore therapeutic approaches to effectively support survivors.

Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to

  • Describe the core dynamics, definitions, and forms of human trafficking, including both labor trafficking and sex trafficking.
  • Identify the psychological and systemic impacts of trafficking on survivors.
  • Apply culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and evidence-based therapeutic strategies to support survivors.

Course Instructor: Amanda Mole’, LCSW is a licensed Clinical Social Worker and Qualified Supervisor, with a Master of Social Work degree earned in 2017. She is the founder and owner of Harmony Within Counseling, LLC, a private practice dedicated to helping individuals navigate anxiety, depression, and trauma-related conditions. Amanda specializes in treating issues surrounding abuse, relationships, and religious trauma, offering a compassionate and client-centered approach to healing.
