Often sexual trauma survivors make great strides in the physical and emotional healing of their traumas, but still struggle for healing in the area of sexuality. This interactive webinar will open up the conversation about what authentic sexuality is, what it means for a survivor of sexual assault, how to help survivors of sexual assault grow and develop in their sexuality, and practical ways that a mental health professional can help facilitate healing in the area of sexuality for a sexual trauma survivor.

Syllabus:
Introduction
- This course explores the concept of authentic sexuality in the context of sexual trauma recovery. Participants will examine how survivors of sexual assault may continue to experience challenges related to sexuality even after significant physical and emotional healing has occurred. The course focuses on understanding authentic sexuality, its relevance for sexual trauma survivors, and the role mental health professionals can play in supporting safe, empowered sexual healing.
Objective #1: Understand Authentic Sexuality in the Context of Sexual Trauma
- Participants will examine the concept of authentic sexuality and how it differs for individuals who have experienced sexual trauma. The course will explore how trauma can shape sexual identity, desire, boundaries, and intimacy, as well as common misconceptions that may interfere with sexual healing.
Objective #2: Identify Practical Ways to Broach Sexuality with Survivors
- This section focuses on practical strategies mental health professionals can use to introduce and navigate conversations about sexuality with sexual trauma survivors. Participants will explore trauma-informed, client-centered approaches that support safety, consent, and autonomy while addressing sexuality in a respectful and clinically appropriate manner.
Objective #3: Apply Creative and Gentle Interventions to Support Sexual Healing
- Participants will learn creative, gentle, and sex-positive clinical approaches for addressing sexuality-related concerns in trauma recovery. Emphasis is placed on pacing, collaboration, and empowerment, along with practical tools that clinicians can integrate into their work to help survivors grow and develop a more fulfilling and self-directed sexual life.

- The course concludes with a summary of key concepts and an opportunity for discussion and reflection to support clinical application and integration into professional practice.
