This course is designed for mental health clinicians working with clients who have been impacted by narcissistic relationships. Clinicians will gain a deeper understanding of the psychological effects of narcissistic abuse, explore evidence-based strategies for helping clients rebuild self-identity, and learn how to support clients in breaking maladaptive patterns.

This course integrates trauma-informed care, neuroscience, and cognitive-behavioral interventions to provide clinicians with practical tools for working with individuals recovering from narcissistic influence. Through case studies, interactive discussions, and applied interventions, participants will be equipped to help clients reclaim their sense of self, set boundaries, and rewire maladaptive thought patterns.

Syllabus:

Introduction

Objective #1: Assess the Psychological Impact of Narcissistic Relationships

  • Identify signs and symptoms of narcissistic abuse and its effects on clients’ mental health and identity.
  • Differentiate between healthy and pathological narcissism.

Objective #2: Guide Clients in Reclaiming Personal Identity and Self-Worth

  • Utilize trauma-informed approaches to help clients process identity erosion.
  • Support clients in developing self-awareness and internal validation strategies.

Objective #3: Implement Clinical Interventions to Break Toxic Patterns

  • Teach clients effective boundary-setting techniques and cognitive restructuring.
  • Address trauma bonding and help clients overcome codependency.

Objective #4: Apply Neuroscience-Based Techniques to Rewire Thought Patterns

  • Use neuroplasticity principles to help clients shift from survival mode to growth mindset.
  • Introduce mindfulness, somatic regulation, and self-compassion strategies to promote healing.
