The benefits of Motivational Interviewing (MI) are vast, especially for teens. Are you more likely to do something if someone else tells you to? Or if it is your own idea? Hence, most people are inspired to make a change when they personally believe it is important. Not because someone else thinks they should do it. That is an element of human nature that helps explain why Motivational Interviewing works. In this training we will explore the empirical information supporting the efficacy of MI, tapping into a teen’s innate motivations, and applying the techniques aligning with the Stages of Change through case studies.
