Grief is a universal experience, yet the ways in which people mourn, heal, and find meaning vary widely across cultures and spiritual traditions. This foundational, interactive workshop invites participants to explore diverse grief practices from around the world, including rituals, symbols, ceremonies, and spiritual beliefs related to death and loss. Through guided discussion, case examples, and personal reflection, participants will deepen their understanding of how cultural and religious perspectives shape the grieving process. The workshop emphasizes empathy, respect, and cultural humility, equipping attendees with tools to better support individuals and communities experiencing loss in ways that honor their values and traditions.
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to
- Identify key grief rituals, mourning customs, and healing practices from a variety of cultural and spiritual traditions around the world.
- Examine how beliefs about death, the afterlife, and spiritual meaning influence grief responses and support systems within different communities.
