This engaging and interactive course delves into the critical intersection of implicit bias, cultural
humility, and the unique mental health challenges faced by Black men. Participants will explore the
pervasive impact of systemic inequities, the role of implicit biases in clinical settings, and strategies
to foster trust and culturally responsive care. Through case studies, discussions, and actionable tools,
attendees will enhance their ability to recognize and address biases while cultivating cultural humility
to empower Black male clients and drive meaningful change in their mental health outcomes.
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to
- Define key terms such as implicit bias, cultural humility, and systemic inequities as they relate to
Black men’s mental health. - Identify common mental health challenges faced by Black men and the systemic barriers that
exacerbate these challenges. - Explain how implicit biases influence clinical decision-making and interactions in mental health care
settings. - Apply strategies for recognizing and addressing personal implicit biases when working with Black
male clients.
