This training is designed to equip mental health professionals with foundational knowledge and practical skills in utilizing EMDR-informed techniques within therapy sessions. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful, evidence-based approach to addressing trauma, anxiety, and other mental health challenges. Participants will learn how to integrate EMDR principles and modified strategies into their current practice to support clients in processing distressing memories, reducing emotional reactivity, and building resilience.
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to

Syllabus:
Introduction
Objective #1: Describe the core principles and theoretical underpinnings of EMDR therapy.
- What is EMDR?
- Understand the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) Model and the Eight Phase Protocol.
- What is desensitization and reprocessing?
Objective #2: Identify appropriate situations to use EMDR-informed interventions in therapy sessions.
- Understand the myths vs reality of EMDR therapy
- How does trauma impact your window of tolerance?
- Ethical considerations and scope of practice.
Objective #3: Utilize EMDR-informed practices to promote emotional regulation, resilience, and adaptive functioning in clients.
- How to utilize the container exercise.
- How to utilize the safe/calm state exercise.
- Other stabilization techniques including the light stream technique, spiral and breathing shift, and butterfly hug.
